Picture number two: that is what I think of when I think of Bergen. One of your first photos shows almost that same shot. Love it, Dal Tue 30-Sep-2003 17:56

yah, it looks like one of my photos because i drew it from that photo : ) there's too much rain here to sit outside and draw from real life, altho i think i will draw the view from my office window. today was a lot more normal that yesterday... wait maybe it wasn't, but there were a lot less coincedences. today was the performance and destruction of the mandala. here's pictures from the week.

the performance was done with every installation having an assigned "voice" and then a score was written so that at certain times certain installations would be active, sometimes all installations would be active for just 30 seconds and then it would hush down to just one piece. it actually worked really well. it's impossible to describe the atmosphere, and i didn't really take enough pictures to show all of the installations (because i thought this was a ton of pictures already), but it was a very eerie and effective performance that lasted about an hour and a half. then the monks did their ceremony.

afterwards i got a lot of compliments on my "piece," which wasn't even really my idea, it was just an idea that i executed for someone else. actually, they complemented my other video that *was* my idea as well, which was a video of people's mouths as they were talking, which i made because i was so damn frustrated with Norwegian. anyways, Trond gave me a really weird compliment because he said i wasn't anything like he thought i was going to be. he said he thought i was going to be some snotty New York video artist or something, but he and Ellen say that instead i'm very open. he also said "you're always looking for the door that isn't there, and you find it." i thought that was odd, but maybe it makes sense.

let me say that although i hate my camera's color saturation, i love the fact that i can play back a video and capture photos right to the memory stick. that helped a lot on this post.

Would like to see your mouth-video...maybe you all later on plan to have same kind of collaboration/exhibition with/in FYLKINGEN in Stockholm? Sun 28-Sep-2003 09:29

this was a one-time performance, but maybe i will upload some video for the checking-out. you can also keep up with the activities of the group who lead the workshop, Verdensteateret at this address: www.pluto.no/doogie/verdensteatret

i'm sure they will come to Stockholm at some point since they have Swedish members.

remember those classes you had when you were 5 years old where they would take all the "gifted" kids into a room and have you play creatively with sand and mess around with abstract ideas? ok, well at least some of you do. anyways, i'm currently in this "workshop" where we're basically all just mucking around and creating weird stuff based on audio/video/tactile material from Greenland and other random stuff, and these Tibetan monks are making a sand mandala in the middle of the whole thing and... uh, maybe you should just look at the pictures. oh, i mentioned that 5 year old thing because there's a bunch of salt all over the ground and people keep playing with it in different ways.

i took some hi-res photos today, but i left my camera at the workshop we're having. getting my camera means climbing up a big hill, then going down the other side. if i wanted to come back to BEK and upload the photos, i'd have to climb the hill again, plus it's most likely raining, so you'll probably just see those tomorrow.

Are you in Sweden or in Norway? Mon 22-Sep-2003 20:28

last night i went to a house party. it was pretty lame, but i did my best to liven it up. at one point we got a hippie freakout dance party going, which was probably the highlight of the night. another highlight might have been me serving chips to everyone out of a frying pan.

Well, whoah, hold the banana dalas. Did you research as to the reason why these unequal pupils appear? These are not just genetic anomalies - this mutation must serve some purpose. Maybe the purpose of the unequal pupils has something to do with display tactics from prehistoric human behavior. Or, maybe its a genetic marker for survival and vitality? Just tossing the salad on this one. And don't ever say I lied - you say I died! Wed 24-Sep-2003 13:07

apparently today's upload has a greenish theme, which i wasn't aware of. lots of these photos come from my walk to the police bike auction. the policeman that i talked to told me it was a short walk, but it ended up being an hour long, mostly uphill. i got a fairly nice bike for fem hundre kroner, which is like $66. now i just need some bike tools to adjust a few things and i'm good to go.

you wish you could fix that bike! i give you about twenty minutes and you'll stab the bike seat with a broken bottle of sark! CULKIN! Thu 18-Sep-2003 19:21

I've never known you to have any gadget that didn't work properly, so this must really be pissing you off. Maybe the person at the store is having a joke on your expense. They just keep giving you the broken one. Tue 16-Sep-2003 20:23

You haven't noticed any ducks hanging around the store where you bought the camera, have you? Oh, by the way old chum, only one month and the bet will have ended...better stock up on Sark. Thu 18-Sep-2003 13:13

oh, actually, this is a working camera. this is how the photos are supposed to look. i guess it's not much better, but you can kind of tell they are mostly in focus now. anyway, this is the desired effect from the camera. Thu 18-Sep-2003 18:12

I dunno what's up with this camera. Either it's eating batteries at an alarming rate even when it's turned off, or something is wrong.

Care to comment?

Regarding the title: it's an ironic chant some friends came up with to piss people off. I was yelling it tonight at the dance club. Here are some pics from today, all taken with the toy camera.

I can't belive you yelled that at the nightclub! AWESOME!!! Did any of them freak out? What about the Swedish Prime Minister? Fri 12-Sep-2003 14:45
Posted by:Monopoly Gold Edition
The Swedish Prime Minister wasn't at the nightclub. I think she was busy dying or something. All of the flags were at half-mast. No one at the nightclub seemed to notice my chant, but there were only like ten people on the dance floor. Fri 12-Sep-2003 16:07
